COMPOST2026: Some of Our Favorite Highlights From an Incredible Week

Posted by Eco-Products on Feb 17th 2026

COMPOST2026 is always one of the events we look forward to most, and this year’s United States Composting Council Annual Conference delivered everything we love about this industry: collaboration, innovation, and a whole lot of passion for building a better composting future. Here are some of the moments that stood out for our team.

We kicked things off in Sacramento with a BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute)-hosted Hill Day, where members of our team joined advocates from across the country to push for a legislative fix to AB 1201. It was energizing to be part of those conversations, and the momentum carried right into the BPI Welcoming Reception that evening. Reconnecting with longtime friends and partners reminded us just how strong and supportive this community is.

One of the biggest announcements of the week came from USCC, which shared its new material-agnostic stance. By supporting each composter’s decision to accept—or not accept—certified compostable products, USCC reinforced the importance of operational flexibility while acknowledging the meaningful climate benefits compostable products can bring.

We also gained a deeper understanding of the compost-carbon connection and the climate opportunities of keeping food and organics out of landfills. Furthering our understanding of how composting reduces landfill methane emissions while improving soil health has inspired and motivated us to continue this work.

Of course, no conference is complete without a chance to celebrate together. The Eco-Products–sponsored happy hour gave us the perfect opportunity to connect with even more industry superheroes. There’s nothing quite like sharing a drink with people who are as committed to composting as we are.

Another highlight was sponsoring the Emerging Composter Competition for the second consecutive year. As a lead sponsor, we had the honor of presenting the first-place award to Eleanor Lawrence of Green Mama Compost from Guatemala. Her work is inspiring, and we were thrilled to cheer her on.

We also celebrated a big win close to home: the Colorado Composting Council was named State Chapter of the Year. Our own Colorado Product and Zero Waste Specialist (PZW), Meghan Ibach, is deeply involved with this group, and we couldn’t be prouder of her and the entire Colorado team for earning this recognition.

As the week wrapped up, we found ourselves already looking ahead. COMPOST2026 reminded us why we love this industry and the people in it. We truly can’t wait for next year.
