Partner Highlight: Delta Compost

In the beautiful desert region of Colorado, Delta Compost processes a variety of feedstocks, ranging from food waste, yard waste, and biosolids. With the help of microorganisms, this powerful blend of nutrients results in a rich compost that is affordable and effective in growing lush gardens, sprucing up yards, and keeping farm pastures hearty and strong. Delta Compost is all about giving back to the land and helping neighbors thrive and is proud to be providing affordable compost that is helping improve soil across the Western Slope.

In 2024, they were curious about how certified compostable products would break down in their system, so they collaborated with their regional Eco-Products Product and Zero Waste Specialist to conduct a field test through the Compostable Products Field Test (CPFT) program. They were delighted to see how well the compostable products broke down in their system. Now, Delta Compost accepts certified compostable products from select communities in the western half of Colorado. They’ve diverted over 1.5 million pounds of food waste, 3.5 million gallons of fats, oils, grease, and septic, and 2,000 tons of yard waste, all helping to divert these resources from landfill and improve soil across western Colorado.
